Host Question: What is a bachelor’s level degree in nutrition? How long does that take to obtain and what types of jobs can you get with that level of education?
Answer: With a bachelor’s level degree in nutrition, that takes around four years. Once you have that degree, you can become a dietitian, if you do two things before. So you need to first match to a dietetic internship, complete that, and then sit for that RD exam, where you earn the credential of an RD.
Answer: With a bachelor’s degree, that’s going to be a four year program. And what you can do during your bachelor’s, especially if you want to go on to do your dietetics program, you can do something that’s called a DPP program during your bachelors, but with just your bachelors it’s going to be a four year program. You get a lot more nutrition knowledge, you get to do the higher level courses, things like metabolic science and organic chemistry and biochemistry, which is so fun, you get to do all that good stuff, and from there you can do higher level management roles. You could even start your own business at this point, if you’d like to do that, that’s an area. And then you can also continue on to get your master’s from there too.
Answer: At a a bachelor’s level and a dietitian, you would do a nutrition degree that also has some sort of dietetics and that will take about four years. And then you can apply and start your process to become a dietitian. Also, with a bachelor’s degree, you could go that public health route. You can work in public health departments, you can work at universities doing more public health related nutrition work.
